Most of us seem to have little idea of what entertains a child. If you ask 10 new parents on what would be good entertainers for children, chances are 9 would shrug or make a wild guess, “Toys?”
Experts or child psychologists can possibly tell you a list of entertainers for children which have worked successfully over the years. But, the fact remains that everything a child sees is new to him, and he takes a few years to start communicating exactly what it is he wants.
It worries us when we see a baby cry. We try our best to find out what he or she wants and give it to them as soon as possible. We bring dolls, toy cars, colorful objects and anything we find, hoping to pose it as entertainers for children. To them, everything is new and fresh and for some reason, they find certain entertainers for children more interesting than others. Each child may respond differently to different entertainers for children.
Magic and circus shows are believed to be popular entertainers for children. They seem to work too, since most children seem fully occupied with the shows. If one would trace back one’s life, every one of us can probably remember wanting to be a magician or to be present in those circus shows. We were full of vigor and excitement while watching it all in awe and wonder.
Cartoons have always been one of the best entertainers for children. It would in fact work for older children too. This still surprisingly manages to hold their interest for hours on end. It is amazing how toddlers manage to pick up their accent and vocabulary so easily from cartoons. Every child comes up with a favorite cartoon character too, whom they adore or mimic passionately.
Picture books too are pretty good for entertaining children, although it may not work in every case. Some children seem pretty interested in books and words even at a very early age. But, in any case, it is best not to put pressure on them by thrusting more books in the hope of seeing your babies growing up as little Einsteins.
Toys are of course the all-time hit entertainers for children. Be it dolls, toy cars, stuffed animals, or building blocks, children seem to fall in love with them all over again, every day. Plus, there is the added fun of discovering the powers of imagination.
It still goes without saying that their parents are in fact the best entertainers for children. Many parents are now falling into the habit of dropping their children at day-care centers while rushing to join the busy rat race. Even as they earn and strain only for the sake of their little ones, they forget that their presence may be all the child really wants to be happy. They can live without toys, circuses or cartoons, but they need their parents whether it is for protection, love or entertainment.
