In my recent articles I have dealt a lot about children’s entertainers and child magicians. Now, I am going to explain to you the story of a child magician who is now the most sought after performer in his area.
We’ll call him Chris, who is 10 years old. I would call him a child prodigy because of the amazing magic he performs. For a child magician, it requires something more to do the kind of tasks he performs. This boy has real talent.
The child magician is admired by children his own age, who view him with considerable awe and respect. But, if you ask Chris, he would promptly say that being a child magician is not so easy. Why? You might want to ask him. He is ready with a reply.
“I don’t get to do things children of my age normally do. It is practice, practice and more practice to perfect my magic tricks”, he says, but admits he enjoys being a child magician. Chris’s interest in becoming a magician took roots when he accompanied his parents to a magic show. For days on end, he continued to imitate the magician.
His parents gave him a magic set as a Christmas gift. This took him to a fascinating world of magic. A child magician had bloomed! As his interest grew, so did his skills. His parents were amazed at the way he learned the skills and performed for them in the study of their house.
At the age of eight, the child magician presented his first “magic show”. What better occasion can that be? His birthday, of course! He had his friends and other guests in stiches as he took them through a 15-minute show, packed with all the tricks he had learned.
I was amazed by the child magician’s understanding of magic and the concepts. As a child magician, Chris has had to give up playing with children his own age and concentrate on his magic performances. A few months into his new found hobby, the child magician found out that performing magic tricks alone was not enough. He discovered that he needs to speak well and communicate with the audience.
With the help of his Dad, Chris successfully tackled this issue, though he has a long way to go before he can be a real showman. With more than 50 performances behind him, the child magician is fast learning to be a superb performer.
Since it is rare to see a child magician entertain audiences, his friends now want him to present a show at their birthday parties. The child magician’s school authorities have asked him to present a magic show to celebrate the opening of a new library.
Chris is quite mature for his age, I should say. He has handled his new found status as a celebrity child magician quite well. Unlike star children of his age, Chris is always the same child for his friends. In between his performances, the child magician finds time to concentrate on studies. He is liked by his teachers, who compliment him for his amazing ability with Math.
