Unless you are throwing a rather small party, it can be a very good idea to hire one or more children’s birthday party entertainers. While it is true that kids will have fun one way or the other, children’s birthday party entertainers make things much more memorable, and make the day so much more special. Besides, if kids are left to their own devices, they will indeed have fun one way or the other. However, it just may happen to be the noisy and somewhat destructive kind of fun. With children’s birthday party entertainers, you can rest secure in the knowledge that there will be fun involved, but the kids will be nice and well behaved.
When you hire children’s birthday party entertainers, it is important for you to remember that they come in many colors and styles. Once, the entertainers’ market was crowded with clowns, but these days children’s birthday party entertainers come in a wide variety of colors and styles. Which one is the right one for you?
a) Clowns: If you think of children’s birthday party entertainers, you are probably thinking about clowns, and indeed they can be very versatile, as most of them will use acrobatics or juggling to spice up their comic routine. However, they can be embarrassing for older kids, and scary for the younger ones, so thread carefully.
(By the way, did you know that there is a word to describe an excessive and irrational fear of clowns? The word is Coulrophobia.)
b) Face painters: A face painter probably will be unable to make or break the party by himself since he can only paint one kid at a time, but he can be a nice addition to your arsenal of children’s birthday party entertainers if you team him up with another entertainer better suited for a big audience. A good face painter can work on 10-15 children an hour, so plan accordingly and hire extras if it is a really big party!
c) Animal handlers: Kids love animals! Some handlers will specialize in creepy and scary crawlies. Some will have cute animals that the kids can pet.
e) Puppeteers: There is something very magical and memorable in the performance of a good puppeteer, but sadly they are not as popular as they used to be. Kids these days are used to seeing dazzling 3D animations on the TV every other day, and the subtleties of the art of puppetry may be lost on them. (On the other hand, if you know they are fans of Sesame Street, then you can go for it.)
e) Magicians: It goes without saying that we are partial towards party magicians. They are amongst the most versatile children’s birthday party entertainers, since both children and adults will be amazed by the magic tricks. Even the youngest in the crowd will be delighted when the rabbit comes out of the hat! Some magicians (like Magic Mike) also have a knack for comedy, and the audience will be laughing while they are being amazed.
